Famous vineyard sites
The village of Forst with its 850 inhabitants is located at the “Mittelhaardt” a long ridge on the sunny east side of the Palatinate forest, the largest forest in Germany.
This area is famous for its mild and sunny weather.
The microclimate, together with the many different types of soil, is the crucial factor for the quality of our wines.Wines from Forst on the “Deutsche Weinstrasse” (German Wine Route) are considered to be the best in the whole Palatinate area. Our vineyards are located in such famous appellations as Forster Jesuitengarten, Ungeheuer, Pechstein and Musenhang as well as Deidesheimer Leinhöhle, Langenmorgen, Herrgottsacker or Ruppertsberger Hoheburg and Reiterpfad. Connoisseurs know that the Rieslings of the vineyards of Forst count amongst the best in Germany.
We cultivate 11 hectares (27 acres) which allows us to produce wines reflecting the various flavours of the individual appellations. T his is very much supported by the different types of soil in the region; from weathered bunter, heavy loam, loamy gravel through loess to hot and powerful basalt. Sunny hillsides to the south vary with others to the southeast and some sites in the plains. It is essential for us to maintain the character of the different varieties which the natural conditions, terroir and vintage have developed in each wine. We therefore very much concentrate on a natural cultivation.
